Summer Is Over

As hard as it is to believe, let alone accept, summer is over. Kids are already back to school. The nights are getting cooler and the days progressively shorter. There may be one road trip left on the books, but that’s likely it until next year (or the holidays). And, we’re starting to think about pulling the sweaters out and pushing the tank tops and shorts to the back of our closets and drawers.

But, for auto dealerships and direct mail marketers like us – this transitional time of year also presents a great opportunity to ramp up our service and sales outreach. Here are a few of our favorite fall and pre-winter deals and promotional ideas.

Summer Clearance Sale

There are plenty of “savvy shoppers” who wait until the end of the season to buy seasonal stock – whether it’s to get a great deal on a tent for next year or hitting the clearance racks for next year’s beach towels and swimsuits…and for many, the same holds true for vehicles. Automotive direct mail is the ideal way to promote an end of summer clearance sale. For some prospects who may have waited to buy a new truck to tow their boat or trailer, now might be a great time to grab their attention. The same holds for lovers of sports cars and convertibles. Tap into the psyche of your prospects with bold summer colors and remind them that summer isn’t over yet – and the deals are still hot on your lot. And, just like summer, the deals at your dealership aren’t made to last – so customers should feel compelled to shop today!

Embrace Autumn

When the temperatures begin to cool, many shoppers start to obsess about the coming winter – they stock up on shovels and generators before the best ones are purchased ahead of an oncoming storm. And, for those customers who have been thinking about getting a safer winter ride, early autumn might be the ideal time to buy. So, if your lot sells inventory with great winter features like traction control and anti-lock brakes – promote them to the hilt.

Winterizing Service

This is also an opportune moment to promote winterizing service deals. Many will want to get a jump on things and have their heating system checked, their all-weather tires replaced and their brakes serviced before the winter rush – so, make sure you send out a piece of automotive direct mail with some great Pre-Winter Service Deals as well.

Remember, as the now famous saying goes, “Winter Is Coming”. Your customers know it, many dread it and you should do your level best to capitalize on it before your competitors.
